Call off the Search, You Are Already Home

Have you “Made It?”

Do you ever think that you’ll only be happy once you achieve certain things? Maybe it’s getting a lot of money, a fancy job title, a shiny thing on your finger, having a baby, or acquiring any material possessions. You’re not alone in feeling this way. Society has taught us to believe that joy and fulfillment can only come from constantly chasing after the next big thing. We find ourselves tirelessly climbing one mountain after another, yearning for that vague sense of “making it” in life. But what if I told you that you can stop searching because you’re already where you need to be?

Breaking Free from the Illusion

I can vividly recall a time when I believed that obtaining a university degree would validate my worthiness and grant me entry into meaningful conversations with seemingly important people. At that time, I lacked self-esteem and felt inadequate. I believed that a degree would give me respect and cover up my shame. Yet, to my surprise, even after achieving this milestone, I still felt empty and unprepared to engage with others. It was a revelation that no external qualification or accolade could ever make me more of who I already am. I discovered that happiness and fulfillment don’t come from what we do, but from who we are being. It is embracing our true state of beingness versus the endless doing that we were conditioned to pursue. It was at this point that I called off the search because I realized that I had already arrived home, inside the stillness of my heart.

The Pursuit of External Validation

Many of us work hard to acquire wealth, fame, extravagant homes, attractive partners, or flashy cars, hoping that once we attain them, we will finally become somebody of significance in society and fill the void inside us. Yet when we acquire these things, we often discover that the emptiness within us grows even deeper. In those moments, some people may resort to self-destructive patterns like drinking, drugs, or pornography to numb the pain of facing reality. It’s at those times that we come face to face with the truth: there is no ultimate destination to reach.

You Are Already Home

It’s time to break free from the endless search for worthiness and validation. Stop chasing after external achievements and possessions in the hope of finding happiness. The truth is, you are already home. Within you lies the key to true fulfillment. By embracing your authentic self, recognizing your inherent worth, and shifting your focus to the present moment, you can unlock lasting joy from within. Today, I urge you to heed the call and call off the search. Remember the wise words of St. Francis: “What you are looking for is where you are looking from.” It’s time to embrace your true essence and find the profound contentment that awaits you.

Remember…“Everything you need is already within you.”
